The intellectual property we have created is an important management resource supporting the Canon MJ Group's technological capabilities, the trust our customers have in us, and the value we create as we anticipate the future. Accordingly, we protect and use it appropriately.
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and implement Group-wide intellectual property strategies in collaboration with our management and business divisions to support the growth of our existing businesses and the creation of new businesses.
Through these efforts, we provide customers with high added value and peace of mind, and we contribute to the sustainable improvement of the competitiveness of the Group as a whole and the maximization of its corporate value.

Management receives reports regarding intellectual property strategies and activities to enable them to assess the appropriateness of our intellectual property governance.
Additionally, in accordance with our management strategy, we have established a system to protect our technologies, visualize their value and formulate, implement and evaluate intellectual property strategies that reflect market and technology trends in cooperation with the business divisions of the Group companies.

Initiatives

1. Establishment of a Portfolio of High Value-added Patents Supporting the Growth of Business

The Canon MJ Group is establishing a portfolio of high value-added patents to support the growth of business to achieve ITS 5000.*
In accordance with our management policies, we strategically narrow down the fields we focus our efforts on, apply for patents that are linked directly to the value that we provide through products and services, and acquire intellectual property rights regarding them. We have also anticipated changes in the market and technologies to enhance our application for patents in growth fields, such as the field of AI-related technologies. Through these initiatives, we are increasing the technological advantages and competitiveness of the Canon MJ Group while differentiating ourselves from other companies.
As a result, we hold more than 1,000 patents as of June 30, 2025. Among the IT service companies whose sales are on the same level as the Canon MJ Group's ITS business, we are one of the top companies in terms of the number of patents held. More than 50% of the patents we hold are related to our focus areas. We strategically protect both technologies that support the growth of business in the future and product implementation technologies that form the foundation of our operating revenue.

Initiatives

Contents

Deleting webpages where counterfeits are sold and sending warnings We regularly monitor e-commerce and flea market websites. If we discover counterfeit Canon products, we request the website operator to delete the page where the product is sold. In addition, we send warning letters to the sellers. This has resulted in outcomes that have included their disclosure of supply routes and written promises to stop infringing on Canon's rights.
Regarding heinous cases, we cooperate with the police in detecting such cases.
Preventing imports To prevent the inflow of counterfeit goods from other countries, we cooperate closely with customs through the provision of regular training to customs officials and other activities. As a result, the import of a large number of counterfeit Canon products has been stopped by customs offices in individual regions.
Alerting customers Counterfeit goods not only cause quality problems and other troubles to customers who purchased them believing that they were authentic products but also have a risk of explosion. This applies particularly to battery packs.
Therefore, we alert customers via our website by letting them know that counterfeit goods are distributed in the market and explaining to them the characteristics of the counterfeit goods.
