Overview of Our Sustainability Activities

At the Canon Marketing Japan Group (here in after "the Canon MJ Group"), we define material issues as key issues that need to be addressed immediately in order to maintain sustainable growth, and are implementing initiatives to meet the expectations and needs of our stakeholders.
We are also conducting social contribution activities aimed at solving social issues in areas where it is difficult for our businesses to reach.
By taking measures to address material issues and carrying out social contribution activities, we are working to put our corporate philosophy and Purpose into practice.

Sustainability Promotion Structure

The Canon MJ Group established the Sustainability Promotion Committee in February 2021 as a place for the consideration of measures to enhance corporate value by placing sustainability management at the core of management plans. Matters to be discussed and resolved by the Sustainability Promotion Committee are important topics that relate to the core aspects of management and are cross-organizational themes that span multiple other committees and divisions. Therefore, we determined that a system in which the committee operates under the direct supervision of the Board of Directors was necessary, and in April 2023, the committee, which had operated under the Management Committee, changed to be under the direct supervision of the Board of Directors. Important sustainability matters are deliberated by the Sustainability Promotion Committee and reported to the Board of Directors to receive opinions and advice, which is then reflected in subsequent initiatives. In 2024, the Sustainability Promotion Committee convened four times.
