Basic Approach and Policy
Aiming to help establish a sustainable society, the Canon Marketing Japan Group (hereinafter the "Canon MJ Group") has formulated Canon MJ Group Environmental Vision 2050 and the interim Canon MJ Group 2030 Medium-Term Environmental Targets. Based on this vision and these targets, we are proactively implementing initiatives for the proper management of chemical substances and prevention of pollution.
Initiatives
Initiatives to Prevent Pollution
For the Canon MJ Groupʼs products manufactured under contract, we are working to eliminate hazardous chemical substances based on the Canon Green Procurement Standards. We confirm that our business partners have established product chemical management systems in accordance with the above Standards. We also conduct surveys of raw materials, parts, and secondary materials of products manufactured under contract to check for environmentally hazardous substances.
Chemical Substance Management
The Canon MJ Group properly manages chemical substances* used mainly for after-sales support for Canon products and similar purposes. When we use a new chemical substance, we assess its environmental impact in advance in compliance with the in-house procedures for management of chemical substances. If a substance has been judged as harmful and hazardous in light of the list created in accordance with regulations such as the Stockholm Convention and the Montreal Protocol, the substance is replaced with an alternative. We stay up to date on the amounts of chemical substances used and stored and periodically check if they are properly used and stored.
